Hello all,

I found this post really interesting. I am currently training as an SLT in my second year of my Masters and have often wondered about the support SLTs have when working with patients and their families who are experiencing grief/ denial. For those SLTs practicing or newly qualified, do you think more training pre registration into the profession would be beneficial? Has anyone undertaken extra training and noticed improvement in therapy session by implementing counselling techniques? I am interested in proposing some research in this area and any advice, personal accounts and opinions that would help formulated the direction of my research would be greatly appreciated.
Warm Wishes

I have just discovered your website, and this article about Counselling is of great use to me. I have long been feeling like I need some further training in this area, for similar reasons as you have highlighted.I have been looking out for some sort of Counselling course, but haven't found anything that I thought would be appropriate. I have just clicked on the link you provided to the UCL course, and it sounds great. Hopefully I can attend - depends on funding! I think this website is an excellent idea.
